A SUBJECT YOU'VE ENJOYED STUDYING THIS SEMESTER
Honestly, I have not really enjoyed this semester. I have not seen any subjects directly related to my career, and I have only seen general training courses. It has been a little motivating semester, whose worst part have been the chemistry laboratories. Nothing worse than being very stressed out, among nauseating odors.
However, this is not the first time I study at university. Previously, I had studied in Universidad Austral, in Valdivia, where I studied several subjects that I liked a lot. Among several, my favorites are, definitely, Microbiology and Parasitology. Both subjects deal with the same topic, that is, extracorporal organisms that attack our organism, causing damage and diseases. The difference is that the first subject focuses on bacteria, viruses and microscopic fungi, while the second study organisms larger than the previous ones (protozoa, worms, and even insects).
In both courses, we study general data about the world of microorganisms, and then focus on the organisms that invade our organisms. We study the life cycle of the organism, the mechanism by which the disease is triggered, the course of the disease, and treatment to alleviate or cure it.
I liked these subjects since I have always liked biology (branch of knowledge very present in the training of pharmacists), and particularly zoology (study of animals). As I also like the medicinal area, it has been a fusion of my two favorite studio themes.
Microbial and parasitic diseases are still a major problem in global health, and it is a permanent challenge to generate new strategies to combat them. This is focused on creating new and better medicines, as well as educating the population, particularly the poorest people, to avoid habits that favor the emergence of these diseases, as well as raising awareness among the government to support and favor these strategies.
